New to smoothies? Not regular old smoothies – snooze – but Wicked Green Smoothies – these have a healthy kick and you’ll start out the day feeling healthy and righteous. If you’re a manly man and don’t want your buds seeing what you’re drinking – no worries – pour this in a Thermos and tell them it’s a protein shake <grin
New Year’s Wicked Green Smoothie
1 c. OJ
1/2 c. frozen blackberries
1/2 c. frozen raspberries
1/2 c. pineapple in its own juice
1/2 banana – frozen or fresh
handful of kale or if you’re a beginner you can use spinach or green lettuce. You won’t even taste the greens. Still worried? Simply add just a couple leaves or just one leaf for your first smoothie, then make it again and add a couple of more, working your way up to a handful and then to half a blender full when you become a Wicked Green Smoothie lovin’ machine.
Blend. If you have a basic blender, start with the juice and one fruit, blend add fruit, blend, add veg. Using fresh fruit? You can add ice for a thicker smoothie.
Note: using frozen fruits gives you a thicker milkshake consistency. Too thick? Add more OJ or add some water.
Tip: bananas getting too ripe? peel, break into chunks, put in Ziploc bag and freeze for smoothies
If you already have jumped on the smoothie train, you can substitute water in place of OJ, cut out 2 of the fruits and add more kale.
P.S. Let me know how you like it.
